1. Functional Description
IN16C1054 is a quad UART(Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) with 256-byte FIFO supporting maximum
communication speed of 5.3Mbps. It offers flow control function by hardware or software and signal lines which can open
or close the Tx/Rx input/output when communicating by RS-422 or RS-485. It can handle four interrupt signals (INT0,
INT1, INT2 and INT3) with one global interrupt signal line (GINT) and offers a new ‘Xoff re-transmit’ function in addition to
Xon any character.
UART can convert 8-bit parallel data to asynchronous serial data and vice versa. It can transmit 5 to 8-bit letters, program
I/O interrupt trigger level and has 256-byte I/O data FIFO.

1.5, 2 stop bit, and detect break, idle, framing error, FIFO overflow and parity error in input data.
UART has a software interface for modem controlling.
IN16C1054 offers TQFP80 and PLCC68 packages.

Description
Request to Send (active low). These pins indicate that the
UART is ready to send data to the modem, and affect
transmit and receive operations only when Auto-RTS
function is enabled.
Clear to Send (active low). These pins indicate the modem
is ready to accept transmitted data from the UART, and
affect transmit and receive operations only when Auto-CTS
function is enabled.
Data Terminal Ready (active low). These pins indicate
UART is ready to transmit or receive data.
Data Set Ready (active low). These pins indicate modem is
powered-on and is ready for data exchange with UART.
Carrier Detect (active low). These pins indicate that a carrier
has been detected by modem.
Ring Indicator (active low). These pins indicate the modem
has received a ringing signal from telephone line. A low to
high transition on these input pins generates a modem
status interrupt, if enabled.
Description
Crystal or External Clock Input.
Crystal or Buffered Clock Output.
Clock Select. This pin selects the divide-by-1 or divide-by-4
prescalable clock. During the reset, The high on CLKSEL
selects the divide-by-1 prescaler. The low on CLK selects
the divide-by-4 prescaler. The inverting value of CLKSEL is
latched into MCR[7] at the trailing edge of RESET.
Reset (active high). This pin will reset the internal registers
and all the outputs.
Power Supply Input. 3.3V (2.7V ~ 3.6V)
Signal and Power Ground.
No Internal Connection.
