DESCRIPTION
The UTC UT3222 have two receivers and two transmitters, and a
dual ch arge-pump circuit with ±15kV ES D protection pin to pin
(serial-port con nection pins, i ncluding GND). The device meets the
requirements of TI A/EIA-232-F a nd provides t he e lectrical i nterface
between a n a synchronous communication contr oller and the
serial-port con nector. T he charg e pump and four sma ll ext ernal
capacitors allow operation from a single 3V t o 5.5V su pply. Th e
device operates a t data sign aling ra tes up to 250 kbit/s an d a
maximum of 30V/μS driver output slew rate.
The UTC UT3222 can be placed in the power-down mode by
setting PWRDOWN low, w hich draws only 1 μA from the p ower
supply. W hen the device is po wered do wn, the receive rs remain
active while the drivers are placed in the high-impedance state. Also,
during p ower down, th e o nboard c harge p ump is disabled; V+ is
lowered to VCC and Vis raised toward GND. Receiver outputs also
can be placed in the high-impedance state by setting EN high.
